In this class you will learn to properly and securely set up this super cute 3D sculpted Fox Cake. From sculpting, carving, and dusting, you have written notes and videos to help you all the way. This basic structure is key to securely making many types of 3D sculpted cakes, and past students have adapted it to other designs.
Remember: I want all my students to succeed, so if you ever get stuck I'm only an email away :)
- Create a secure structure to support 3D cake designs using common tools
- How to confidently carve a 3D cake
- How to cover a complex cake shape with fondant
- Add dusts for shading and depth
- Cover the cake board using a simple wrap technique AFTER we finish the cake (no chance of staining!)
- Recipes and tools & materials lists are included
Estimated class time:
Total video run time is just over 2.5 hours, spread over multiple lessons. We recommend you watch it all at least once and follow what's happening with the notes before attempting the project. Then you can go back to check the videos again for anything that's not clear (feel free to email us if you need an explanation).
If you plan to bake your own cakes or mix your own chocolate ganache it's best to do it at least the day before starting. They're much easier to work with when cool. The lessons are arranged so that you can do all the planning and setup first - you'll see how it works once you log in.
After baking cakes and doing basic setup the rest of the project can be done in a couple of hours a day spread over 2 to 3 days depending on your experience and comfort level. But you can definitely take longer or shorter based on your own schedule!
Sharon is a cake decorator from Sydney, Australia who quit her corporate job over 10 years ago to follow her dream. She has traveled the world to teach students and also runs classes in her home studio in Sydney. However, despite all her travels she still hasn't been able to teach as many students as she'd like, and not everyone can visit her studio in Sydney. So she's decided to take her teaching online, to reach students all over the world in their own homes. We hope to see you in class!
